Introduction

In July 2006, the Enterprise Time and Attendance System (ETAS) began a multi-year implementation at the UCSC campus with approximately 1700 staff employees across all divisions. ETAS known as CruzPay at UCSC is a web-based system that is used for recording time worked and/or leave taken; automating accrual and overtime calculations; as well as tracking and reporting time and attendance data.

Because the system is web-based, it can be accessed from any Windows or Mac workstation, either on- or off-campus. CruzPay has a simple, intuitive user interface to facilitate easy self-service time entry and access to data. Employees enter time worked and/or leave taken on a regular (daily, weekly, or monthly) frequency. Time off balances, such as vacation, sick time, or comp time, are automatically calculated to report current information, accessible via the web interface.

CruzPay supports both exempt and non-exempt employees. Time and leave are entered directly into the system via a web browser. Exempt employees record leave taken in whole day increments. Non-exempt employees’ record time worked and leave taken to the nearest quarter hour. At month end employees submit their timesheet electronically. Their supervisor approves their timesheet electronically, and then it is audited and approved by the SHR Service Team Timekeeper.

Employees and Supervisors, continue to be supported by their SHR Service Team Timekeeper for time and attendance policies and procedures. As well, Service Teams will continue to audit timesheets and report time to generate payroll payments.
